I am currently working as part of the EU funded HiTech AlkCarb consortium (http://www.bgs.ac.uk/hiTechAlkCarb/). I am studying the Gardar Province in South Greenland. The Gardar is an ancient rift zone that was volcanically and tectonically active between 1300–1100 Ma. It arguably provides the best “fossilized” analogy for active magmatic rifting seen in East African today.
